eneers are a great way to cover stains, close gaps and straighten teeth. A veneer is a fine layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of your tooth. Veneers are extremely thin, but once bonded to the tooth they’re very strong and durable. Schedule your appointment today at GriDent to see if dental veneers might be an option to create your new healthy and beautiful smile!
– Why choose a veneer?
Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten your front teeth.
A veneer can make a chipped tooth look intact again. The porcelain covers the whole of the front of the tooth with a thicker section replacing the broken part.
Veneers can also be used to close small gaps, when orthodontics (braces) are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others.
Because they are very thin and are held in place by a special strong bond very little preparation of the tooth is needed. Some types of veneers require no preparation of the tooth at all.
Are Veneers a good cosmetic dentistry option for everybody?
Veneers are not suitable for every patient, and teeth bleaching or whitening may be more suitable for those patients who have healthy teeth but want them to be whiter. However, the porcelain laminates can create the foundation for a perfect smile for many people.
How are Veneers made?
Generally, it takes a couple of appointments to prepare and fit a veneer. During the first visit, we’ll prepare the tooth to enable an impression to be taken. After that impression is taken the veneer is custom-made by GriDent’s lab technicians. During your second visit, your we will place the veneer on your tooth to make sure you’re happy with the colour, shape and fit. The veneer will then be bonded in place with a special adhesive, which holds it firmly on the tooth.
Several weeks after the procedure, you will adjust to the new look and feel of the teeth. While they will not feel like your own teeth, in some cases they may even feel better. It is important to remember that good oral hygiene is important to keep the durability of your veneers.
What should avoid with Veneers?
The veneers can come out if you put unnecessary pressure on your teeth. You shouldn’t bite your nails, chew on pencils, ice or other hard objects. You can continue flossing and brushing your teeth in the way that it was. It is normal that it takes time for you to get used to new appearance and feel your new teeth. You should visit your dentist periodically in order to make the veneers checked.
